1956 Jaguar XK140 S Roadster
Derivatives of the XK engine pushed Jaguar to five wins at the world-famous Le Mans between 1951 and 1953. As a result fewer than 9000 were built between 1954 and 1957 making it the rarest of all three variants of the XK. The XK140 was only in production for a short period before the heavily revised XK150 replaced it. Today’s collectors appreciate the XK140 since it retains the pure beauty of the XK120 while offering superior on-road ability and comfort. The Special Equipment package "S" (also known as the “M” in the US market) and optional C-Type cylinder head offered an increased horsepower upwards of 210. The XK140 S was the preferred choice for the sporting buyer looking to get the most out of their Jaguar.
On the dashboard is a brass plaque to authenticate this car is a factory replica of the world famous 1951 Jaguar XK120 Le Mans winner.
This 1956 XK 140 “S” ROADSTER offered here is a lovely fully restored numbers-matching car that is desirably equipped. With dual exhaust knock-off wire wheels painted to match car as per factory specifications, heavier sway bars, and the high-flow cylinder head, The Roadster version is much more valuable than the drop head coupe.
This car was purchased in 2004. Frame off restoration completed in late 2008. This car has rarely been used since restoration hence it's excellent condition.
